Austin Smith Back in Tri-County Victory Lane; Parker, Deal, Devine, Jr., Bowers, Elliott, and Garrett Also Victorious
It was the annual Back to School Nickel Night plus Coca-Cola of Bryson City, North Carolina presented Customer and Fan Appreciation Night tonight at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina! A healthy crowd of adults and youngsters enjoyed the racing action at the 1/4-mile bullring tonight. Austin Smith (Super Late Model), Charlie Parker (Limited Late Model), Jason Deal (Crate Late Model), Charles Devine, Jr., (Modified Street), Drew Bowers (Street Stock), Brandon Elliott (Pony), and JJ Garrett (Modified Pony) all reached victory lane.

Ray Cook and the staff at Tri-County Race Track would also like to send heartfelt condolences to the family of James "J.D." Robinson, who passed away at the racetrack tonight due to a heart attack. J.D. served as the Fire Chief of the Brasstown Volunteer Fire Department and was a true asset at the racetrack. He will be surely missed by all at the track and around the Brasstown community. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 1:00pm at the John C. Campbell Folk School. | full results

Casey Roberts Takes Southern Nationals Point Lead with Third Series Victory in Brasstown!
Casey Roberts and Billy Ogle Jr. are now neck-and-neck going into the final two Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series point races after Roberts’ $3,500 victory on Thursday Night during Round 7 at Tri-County Race Track. Roberts drove the Cushman Motorsports, Cushman Paint & Body, M & S Concrete, Allstar Performance, Schaeffer’s Racing Oil, VP Racing Fuels and Hoosier Racing Tire-sponsored Custom powered Longhorn Chassis to his eleventh career Southern Nationals Series victory. Roberts and Austin Smith brought the field of 22 to the green flag for the start of the 35-lapper with Roberts going to the point early. Smith would go to work on Roberts for the lead several times in the first couple of laps and by lap five take the lead away as the field worked closely around the lapped traffic. | full results

A full racing program and kids bicycle races thrilled the crowd tonight at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina. After the dust had settled on the evening, Shawn Chastain (Super Late Model), Kevin Bradshaw (Limited Late Model), Adam Smith (Crate Late Model), Kenny Taylor (Modified Street), Drew Bowers (Street Stock), and Brandon Elliott (Pony) found themselves celebrating victories at the 1/4-mile bullring. Austin Smith from Worst to First in Southern Nationals Bonus Series Thriller at Tri-County
Austin Smith is finally a Southern Nationals Bonus Series winner. After being crowned the perfect attendance champion from the 2014 season and going winless on the tour, the 19-year-old from Cedartown, Ga. captured his first-career series victory at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, N.C. and picked up the $3,000 payday on Thursday Night July 9th during the annual “Independence Championship” race. Smith rolled into victory lane while driving the Cedartown Electric, Engineered Systems and GW Performance-sponsored Clements Racing Engines-powered Capital Race Car.

New Track Record holder David Payne and Kenny Collins brought the field to life for the start of the 40-lapper in front of a packed house with Collins going to the early lead on the high side. Smith, who arrived late due to mechanical problems on his hauler, started 12th ahead of non-starters Shawn Chastain, Bo Eaton and Ronnie Payne. Smith had muscled his way from the tail to fifth by the fourth lap with Payne was breathing down the neck of Collins for the race lead. | full results

The 2nd Annual 'Modified Street Summer Shootout' took place earlier tonight at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina and the six racing divisions thrilled the nice grandstand crowd that was in attendance! Robert Elkins scored the big $800 victory in the Interstate Welding Modified Street class, as he drove his #44 to victory lane at the 1/4-mile bullring. John Ownbey is Tenth Different NeSmith Late Model Winner in Ten Races with Tri-County Victory!!!
John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN became the tenth different winner in ten races for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division on Friday night in front of a standing-room-only crowd at Tri-County Race Track. Ownbey led the last nine laps of the 2nd Annual Bill Hendren Memorial 40 to take the win in the Auto Depot Special.

“It’s been 13 years since I’ve been to this track, but this is a new team, and everything just seemed to get better for us as night went on,” Ownbey said. “The car was pretty tight early in the race, but the longer we went, the race track came to us and we had what we needed at the end.” | full results

McDonald's Night took center stage tonight at Tri-County Race Track and a great crowd was on hand featuring lots of youngsters for the Kids Bicycle races. It was also the first points race of the season at the Brasstown, North Carolina facility and Shawn Chastain (Super Late Model), Bobby Panter (Limited Late Model), Adam Smith (Crate Late Model), Bobby Elkins (Modified Street), Drew Bowers (Street Stock), and Jamie Cross (Pony) got off to fast starts. Southern Nationals Bonus Series Race for March 27 at Tri-County Cancelled
Due to cold weather and forecasted rain and snow mix later tonight, promoter Ray Cook of the Tri-County Race Track located in Brasstown, NC has decided to cancel tonight’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series by Collins Signs event that was scheduled.

"I hate to cancel a race but sometimes we have to. Everything is set up for a great show whenever the weather gets ready, the track was in really good shape,” stated track promoter Ray Cook. “I didn’t want to get everyone in here for tonight’s race and get rained out,” stated Cook again. There will be no makeup date for this event at Tri-County Race Track.

Tri-County Race Track will try again next Friday Night April 3 for their season opener which will feature all classes racing for their weekly purses. | more

Tri-County Race Track Releases Busy 2015 Racing Schedule!!!
Track Promoter Ray Cook of the Tri-County Race Track located in Brasstown, NC would like to release the 2015 racing schedule. The season will officially kick-off with an open practice session on Thursday evening March 19th. The first points race will be on Friday Night April 10th.

The Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Collins Signs will make four appearances to Tri-County. The first visit will be on Friday March 27th for the Season Opener paying $3,000-to-win. The series will again visit on Monday May 25th for the Fifth Annual Memorial Day Championships paying $3,000-to-win. The Fifth Annual Fourth of July Championship race on Friday July 3rd will pay $3,000-to-win while the final stop of the series to Tri-County will be on Friday Night October 2nd for the 12th Annual Tarheel 50, which will pay $4,053-to-win.

The Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Old Man's Garage will return to the Tri-County schedule for the first time since 2007 as the track will host the eighth points event on Thursday Night July 30th paying $3,500-to-win. | more

Opening 2015 Dates Announced; Full Schedule Forthcoming...
While the entire schedule is not ready to release as of yet, promoter Ray Cook would like to announce the 2015 opening dates for Tri-County Race Track. Our first practice will be Thursday, March 19 with another open practice scheduled for the following Thursday, March 26. The first race of 2015 will be on Friday evening, March 27, as the Southern Nationals Bonus Series invades the 1/4-mile bullring for a $3,000 to win program for the Super Late Models!

Also, the 2015 racing schedule should be released sometime next week. Promoter Ray Cook is tying up the loose ends on the schedule and it will be posted on the website as soon as possible!!!
