Tri-County Race Track Hosts Southern Nationals Series
this Thursday, July 30th
Race Track in Brasstown, N.C. is gearing up for one of the season’s
largest events this Thursday Night July 30th as the Scaheffer’s
Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by Old Man’s Garage
rolls back into town for a “Thursday Night Thunder”
event featuring the ground-pounders racing 35 laps for $3,500-to-win.
Also in action this Thursday will be the Crate Late Models,
Interstate Welding Modified Street, Street Stock and Pony divisions.
The pit gates open at 4:00 pm this Thursday while the grandstand
gates swing open at 5:00 pm. The driver’s meeting will
be at 7:00 pm and racing will begin at 7:30 pm. Adult general
admission for the July 30th event is $18.00, kids 11-16 are
$10.00 and children 10 and under are free while adult pit passes
are $30.00, kids 11-16 are $15.00 and children 10 and under

tonight at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina.
After the dust had settled on the evening, Shawn Chastain (Super
Late Model), Kevin Bradshaw (Limited Late Model), Adam Smith
(Crate Late Model), Kenny Taylor (Modified Street), Drew Bowers
(Street Stock), and Brandon Elliott (Pony) found themselves
celebrating victories at the 1/4-mile bullring. A huge thank-you
to all of the fans who came out to the track tonight, as well
as all of the kids that participated in the bicycle races!

Austin Smith from Worst to First in Southern Nationals
Bonus Series Thriller at Tri-County
Smith is finally a Southern Nationals Bonus Series winner. After
being crowned the perfect attendance champion from the 2014
season and going winless on the tour, the 19-year-old from Cedartown,
Ga. captured his first-career series victory at Tri-County Race
Track in Brasstown, N.C. and picked up the $3,000 payday on
Thursday Night July 9th during the annual “Independence

Smith rolled into victory lane while driving the Cedartown
Electric, Engineered Systems and GW Performance-sponsored Clements
Racing Engines-powered Capital Race Car.
New Track Record holder David Payne and Kenny Collins brought
the field to life for the start of the 40-lapper in front of
a packed house with Collins going to the early lead on the high
side. Smith, who arrived late due to mechanical problems on
his hauler, started 12th ahead of non-starters Shawn Chastain,
Bo Eaton and Ronnie Payne. Smith had muscled his way from the
tail to fifth by the fourth lap with Payne was breathing down
the neck of Collins for the race lead.

Robert Elkins Wins Modified
Street Summer Shootout Tonight at Tri-County Race Track!
2nd Annual 'Modified Street Summer Shootout' took place earlier
tonight at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina
and the six racing divisions thrilled the nice grandstand crowd
that was in attendance! Robert Elkins scored the big $800 victory
in the Interstate Welding Modified Street class, as he drove
his #44 to victory lane at the 1/4-mile bullring. Other winners
tonight at Tri-County Race Track were Austin Smith (Super Late
Model), Levi Hicks (Limited Late Model), Ricky Smith (Crate
Late Model), Drew Bowers (Street Stock), and Marty Clark (Pony).
Ownbey is Tenth Different NeSmith Late Model Winner in Ten Races
with Tri-County Victory!!!
Ownbey of Cleveland, TN became the tenth different winner in
ten races for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring
Division on Friday night in front of a standing-room-only crowd
at Tri-County Race Track. Ownbey led the last nine laps of the
2nd Annual Bill Hendren Memorial 40 to take the win in the Auto
“It’s been 13 years since I’ve
been to this track, but this is a new team, and everything just
seemed to get better for us as night went on,” Ownbey
said. “The car was pretty tight early in the race, but
the longer we went, the race track came to us and we had what
we needed at the end.” |
Charlie Parker Pockets $2,000
in Limited Late Model/525 Spring Championships at Tri-County
rain-postponed Limited Late Model/525 Spring Championships took
place at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina
tonight at Charlie Parker emerged victorious to pocket the $2,000
top prize! Rounding out the top five in the special event were
Randy Nichols, Bobby Panter, Jason Deal, and Danny Ledford.
In other action during the action-packed evening, George Mashburn
(Super Late Model), Greg Suddereth (Modified Street), Drew Bowers
(Street Stock), and Jamie Cross (Pony) put their respective
machines into victory lane at the 1/4-mile bullring!!!

Night took center stage tonight at Tri-County Race Track and
a great crowd was on hand featuring lots of youngsters for the
Kids Bicycle races. It was also the first points race of the
season at the Brasstown, North Carolina facility and Shawn Chastain
(Super Late Model), Bobby Panter (Limited Late Model), Adam
Smith (Crate Late Model), Bobby Elkins (Modified Street), Drew
Bowers (Street Stock), and Jamie Cross (Pony) got off to fast

Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina officially opened up
their 2015 campaign tonight with a full racing program! Kenny
Collins (Super Late Model), Charlie Parker (Limited Late Model),
Jimmy Elliott (Crate Late Model), Charles Devine, Jr. (Modified
Street), Charles Devine, Jr. (Street Stock), and Michael Courtney
(Pony) all reached victory lane tonight at the 1/4-mile bullring.

Southern Nationals Bonus Series Race for March 27
at Tri-County Cancelled
to cold weather and forecasted rain and snow mix later tonight,
promoter Ray Cook of the Tri-County Race Track located in Brasstown,
NC has decided to cancel tonight’s Southern Nationals
Bonus Series by Collins Signs event that was scheduled.
"I hate to cancel a race but sometimes we
have to. Everything is set up for a great show whenever the
weather gets ready, the track was in really good shape,”
stated track promoter Ray Cook. “I didn’t want to
get everyone in here for tonight’s race and get rained
out,” stated Cook again. There will be no makeup date
for this event at Tri-County Race Track.
Tri-County Race Track will try again next Friday
Night April 3 for their season opener which will feature all
classes racing for their weekly purses.
Tri-County Race Track Releases Busy 2015 Racing Schedule!!!
Track Promoter Ray Cook of the Tri-County Race
Track located in Brasstown, NC would like to release the 2015
racing schedule. The season will officially kick-off with an
open practice session on Thursday evening March 19th. The first
points race will be on Friday Night April 10th.
The Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Collins Signs
will make four appearances to Tri-County. The first visit will
be on Friday March 27th for the Season Opener paying $3,000-to-win.
The series will again visit on Monday May 25th for the Fifth
Annual Memorial Day Championships paying $3,000-to-win. The
Fifth Annual Fourth of July Championship race on Friday July
3rd will pay $3,000-to-win while the final stop of the series
to Tri-County will be on Friday Night October 2nd for the 12th
Annual Tarheel 50, which will pay $4,053-to-win.
The Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series presented by
Old Man's Garage will return to the Tri-County schedule for
the first time since 2007 as the track will host the eighth
points event on Thursday Night July 30th paying $3,500-to-win.
Opening 2015 Dates Announced; Full Schedule Forthcoming...
While the entire schedule is not ready to release
as of yet, promoter Ray Cook would like to announce the 2015
opening dates for Tri-County Race Track. Our first practice
will be Thursday, March 19 with another open practice scheduled
for the following Thursday, March 26. The first race of 2015
will be on Friday evening, March 27, as the Southern Nationals
Bonus Series invades the 1/4-mile bullring for a $3,000 to win
program for the Super Late Models!
Updated Rules Now Posted; Schedule to be Released
The staff at Tri-County Race Track would like
to let all of the teams and drivers know that the 2015 version
of the rulebook is now available on the RULES
page of the website! Also, the 2015 racing schedule should be
released sometime next week. Promoter Ray Cook is tying up the
loose ends on the schedule and it will be posted on the website
as soon as possible!!!
